Foreign visitors are being advised to masks up and comply with Thailand’s illness control laws, or face prosecution… presumably even a 20,000 baht fantastic for not wearing a mask. The warning comes after reviews that many foreigners travelling for business haven’t been carrying masks and many have gathered for events, which a spokesperson says led to Covid-19 transmission.
In today’s Covid task drive press briefing, CCSA spokesperson Apisamai Srirangson identified that many visitors getting into those Thailand’s “sandbox” programme to attend business conferences have not been following disease control measures set by the CCSA. “Visitors must comply, or they are going to be prosecuted.”
The calls to put on masks had been reiterated during the English-language CCSA briefing by deputy spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Natapanu Nopakun who said that beneath the Communicable Disease Act, the basic public should at all times wear masks.
“You’re required to put on masks whereas in public areas and while doing activities in groups… There is a maximum of 20,000 baht for failing to take action.”
